Keeping Burbot in an aquarium requires the right conditions.

• Temperament: territorial
• Diet: carnivore
• Minimum tank size: 200 gallons (750 liters) for a single adult
• Compatibility: Best kept alone or with very large, robust, cold-water fish that cannot be eaten. Avoid small fish or those that prefer warmer temperatures.
• Special requirements: Requires a very large, well-filtered, and heavily oxygenated tank with excellent chilling capabilities to maintain consistently low temperatures. Provide plenty of hiding spots (caves, PVC pipes) and a soft substrate. Dim lighting is preferred. Not generally recommended for home aquaria due to their size, temperature requirements, and specialized care.
