Geographic range

Eastern Atlantic Ocean from the Bay of Biscay south to Mauritania, including the Canary Islands and Madeira. Widespread throughout the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea. Also present in the Sea of Marmara and the Sea of Azov.
