• Minimum tank size: 500 gallons (for adult specimens)
• Compatibility: Not suitable for community tanks. Can only be kept with very large, robust fish that cannot be swallowed, or alone. Highly predatory.
• Special requirements: Requires a very large tank with ample swimming space and plenty of hiding spots (dense vegetation, driftwood). Excellent filtration is essential due to their predatory diet. Live or frozen whole fish, large insects, and crustaceans are preferred. Not typically kept in home aquariums due to size and predatory nature.
