• Diet: carnivore
• Minimum tank size: 1000 gallons (for smaller species, larger for others)
• Compatibility: Generally compatible with large, peaceful fish that do not nip fins. Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species. Requires a very large tank with ample open sand substrate.
• Special requirements: Requires a very large, mature aquarium with excellent filtration and a deep, soft sand bed for burrowing. Water quality must be pristine. Live or frozen meaty foods are essential. Due to their size and specialized needs, they are not suitable for most home aquariums and are primarily kept in public aquaria.
