Environment

Benthic, preferring rocky bottoms, kelp beds, and areas with strong currents where they can utilize their suction disc to hold fast. They are found in cold, temperate, and Arctic marine environments.

Geographic range

North Atlantic Ocean, including the Arctic, from Greenland, Iceland, and the Barents Sea south to the Bay of Biscay in Europe, and from Hudson Bay south to New Jersey in North America.
