Circumglobal in tropical and subtropical waters, excluding the eastern Pacific Ocean. Found in the Atlantic Ocean (from Nova Scotia to Argentina), the Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and Indo-Pacific (from East Africa to Japan and Australia).
