Atpažinimo patarimai

Vertical Bands

Count the distinct dark vertical bands on the body. Diplodus sargus typically has 8-9. These bands can sometimes fade, especially in larger specimens or when the fish is stressed.

Caudal Spot

Look for the prominent, well-defined black spot on the caudal peduncle (the narrow part of the body before the tail fin). This spot is a key identifier and usually extends slightly onto the base of the caudal fin.

Mouth and Teeth

Observe the mouth. Diplodus sargus has a small, terminal mouth with 8-10 incisor-like teeth in the front of each jaw, followed by 3-5 rows of molars. This dentition is adapted for grazing and crushing shells.

Body Shape

The body is oval and compressed laterally, typical of seabreams.
