Differenze chiave: The European Eel has a more pointed snout, a lower jaw that protrudes beyond the upper jaw, and its dorsal fin originates much further back, closer to the anal fin. It also has smaller, embedded scales (though often not visible), which Conger conger lacks entirely. European Eels are catadromous, spending much of their lives in freshwater or brackish environments before migrating to the sea to spawn, whereas Conger conger is exclusively marine.
