Terminal Phase (males): Much more brightly colored. Dorsal side is typically blue-green, transitioning to a vibrant orange or yellow stripe along the lateral line, bordered by a blue stripe below. The belly is white. A distinctive bright blue or black zigzag line is often present on the head and operculum. A prominent orange-red spot or band is usually present behind the pectoral fin. The caudal fin is often blue with orange margins.
