Eastern Atlantic Ocean, from Norway and Iceland south to Senegal, including the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, and the Macaronesian islands (Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands, Cape Verde). Also found in the western Atlantic, off the coast of North America, though less common.
