• Minimum tank size: 30 gallons (for smaller species, larger for others)
• Compatibility: Generally not compatible with other fish due to their aggressive nature and tendency to nip fins. Best kept in species-specific tanks or with very robust, fast-moving tank mates of similar size, if at all.
• Special requirements: Require a varied diet of hard-shelled invertebrates to keep their teeth trimmed. Excellent filtration is essential due to their messy eating habits. Provide plenty of hiding spots and enrichment. Some species require brackish or freshwater conditions.
