Environment

Demersal, associated with rocky reefs, pinnacles, boulder fields, and areas with complex bottom topography. They often aggregate near vertical relief and can be found over soft bottoms adjacent to hard structures. They are also known to inhabit submarine canyons.

Geographic range

Eastern North Pacific Ocean, from the Gulf of Alaska (specifically Kodiak Island) south to northern Baja California, Mexico. Most abundant off the coasts of Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.
