Geographic range

Widely distributed in the Atlantic Ocean, including the eastern Atlantic from the Bay of Biscay to Angola, and the western Atlantic from Cape Cod (USA) to Argentina, including the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. Also found in the Mediterranean Sea and Black Sea.
