• Compatibility: Not suitable for community tanks. Can only be kept with other very large, robust, and equally aggressive predatory fish, provided the tank is exceptionally spacious. Often best kept as a solitary specimen in a dedicated predator tank.
• Special requirements: Requires an extremely large aquarium with powerful filtration to handle significant bioload. Excellent water quality is paramount. Provide ample swimming space and strong water flow. Substrate should be fine gravel or sand. Decor should be minimal but include large, smooth rocks or driftwood for cover, ensuring no sharp edges. A secure, heavy lid is essential as they are powerful jumpers. Live or frozen whole fish (e.g., smelt, silversides) are preferred food items, supplemented with high-quality pellets or sticks designed for large carnivorous fish. Avoid feeding feeder fish that may carry diseases.
