They are strongly associated with specific microhabitats, most notably the spines of the long-spined sea urchin (Diadema setosum), but also branching corals (e.g., Acropora, Pocillopora) and anemones.

Geographic range

Endemic to the Banggai Archipelago, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Its natural range is extremely restricted, covering an area of approximately 5,500 square kilometers.
