• Compatibility: Best kept as a solitary specimen. Can be housed with very large, robust, and equally aggressive fish that cannot be swallowed, but this is generally not recommended due to its predatory nature and potential for territorial disputes.
• Special requirements: Requires a very large aquarium with a soft substrate (sand or fine gravel) for burrowing. Secure lid is essential as they are known to escape. Excellent filtration is needed due to their large size and messy eating habits. Provide ample hiding spots using large rocks or driftwood. Water changes should be frequent and substantial. During aestivation, if replicated in captivity, a specific protocol for substrate drying and rehydration is necessary, though generally not recommended for hobbyists.
