Widely distributed throughout central and eastern North America, from the Great Lakes region south to the Gulf Coast states (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida Panhandle) and west to the Great Plains (Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas). Its range extends north into parts of southern Canada.
