Native to Southeast Asia, specifically found in the Mekong River basin (Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam), Chao Phraya River basin, and other river systems in Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia. Also reported from parts of Indonesia (Sumatra, Borneo).
