• Minimum tank size: 180 gallons (680 liters) for a single adult, larger for pairs or community tanks with appropriate tank mates.
• Compatibility: Highly aggressive and predatory. Best kept alone or with very large, equally aggressive cichlids or other robust fish that can withstand its territorial nature. Not suitable for community tanks with smaller or docile species.
• Special requirements: Requires a very large aquarium with robust filtration due to its size and waste production. Provide plenty of hiding places using large rocks, driftwood, and sturdy artificial plants. Substrate should be sand or fine gravel. Excellent water quality is paramount. Can be very destructive to tank decor.
