Widely distributed in the Atlantic Ocean, including the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, eastern Atlantic from the British Isles to Angola, and western Atlantic from Nova Scotia (rarely) to Argentina, including the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea.
