• Compatibility: Can be kept with other large, robust, and semi-aggressive fish that can tolerate its size and occasional territorial behavior. Avoid small or fin-nipping species. Best kept singly or in very large aquariums with other large gouramis if space permits.
• Special requirements: Requires a very large tank with strong filtration due to its size and waste production. Provide plenty of open swimming space, but also some hiding spots with large driftwood or robust plants. Good aeration is important. They are labyrinth fish and can breathe atmospheric air, so ensure access to the water surface. Can be prone to 'gourami disease' (viral infection) in stressful conditions.
