Geographic range

Widely distributed across eastern and central North America. Its range extends from the Maritime Provinces of Canada west to Manitoba, and south through the Great Lakes region, New England, and the Appalachian Mountains to northern Georgia and Alabama. Disjunct populations exist in various parts of its range.
