• Minimum tank size: 500 gallons (for a single specimen, larger for groups)
• Compatibility: Not suitable for typical community aquariums. Best kept in species-specific tanks or with very robust, fast-moving fish that are too large to be prey. Avoid keeping with other cephalopods unless specifically for breeding purposes in a very large system.
• Special requirements: Requires a very large, well-filtered, and mature aquarium with excellent water quality. Sensitive to nitrates and ammonia. Needs plenty of open swimming space and soft substrate for egg laying. Live food is essential. Very short lifespan in captivity (typically less than a year).
