Geographic range

Native to the southeastern United States, primarily along the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plains. Its range extends from southeastern North Carolina south through Florida, and west to the Mobile Bay drainage in Alabama. Isolated populations may exist elsewhere due to introductions.
