• Compatibility: Can be kept with other similarly sized, robust sunfish species or larger, non-aggressive fish. Avoid keeping with very small fish or fin-nippers. Best kept in species-specific tanks or with other sunfish.
• Special requirements: Requires a well-filtered tank with plenty of hiding spots (rocks, driftwood, dense planting). A sandy or fine gravel substrate is preferred. They appreciate open swimming areas as well as sheltered zones. Good aeration is important. Can be prone to stress in overly crowded or small tanks.
