Environment

Prefers rocky reefs, kelp forests (especially giant kelp, Macrocystis pyrifera, and bull kelp, Nereocystis luetkeana), and areas with abundant algal growth. They are demersal, often resting on the bottom or within kelp fronds.

Geographic range

Eastern North Pacific Ocean, from Kodiak Island, Alaska, south to La Jolla, California, USA.
