• Compatibility: Best kept singly or in very large tanks with robust, similarly sized, non-aggressive species that occupy different water columns. Avoid small fish or those with long fins, as they may be preyed upon or harassed. Conspecifics are generally not tolerated unless the tank is exceptionally large and provides ample hiding spots.
• Special requirements: Requires a well-filtered tank with plenty of hiding places such as PVC pipes, caves, and dense vegetation. Substrate should be soft sand or fine gravel to prevent injury to their delicate bodies. Dim lighting is preferred, and a tight-fitting lid is essential as they are known jumpers. They are sensitive to water quality, so regular water changes are crucial. While they generate an electric field, it is weak and harmless to humans.
