Geographic range

Western Atlantic: From North Carolina (USA) south through Florida, the Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and throughout the Caribbean Sea, Central America, and northern South America down to Brazil. Also found in some Pacific drainages of Central America.
