• Minimum tank size: 150 gallons (for larger species like B. barbus), smaller for some dwarf species
• Compatibility: Can be kept with other robust, similarly sized fish. Avoid very small or timid tank mates. Best kept in groups of 5+ individuals to spread aggression.
• Special requirements: Requires well-oxygenated water with good flow. A substrate of sand or fine gravel is preferred for their foraging behavior. Plenty of hiding places among rocks and driftwood are essential. Some species can be jumpers, so a secure lid is necessary.
