• Compatibility: Best kept with other Lake Malawi cichlids of similar size and temperament, particularly other Aulonocara species or peaceful Mbuna. Avoid highly aggressive cichlids or very small, timid fish. A single male with multiple females is ideal to disperse aggression.
• Special requirements: Requires a sandy substrate as they are sand-sifters, and plenty of rockwork to provide caves and hiding spots. Good filtration and regular water changes are essential to maintain pristine water quality. They are sensitive to poor water conditions.
