Wichtige Unterschiede: Zingel streber is even more slender and elongated than Zingel zingel, with a more pointed snout and typically more numerous and distinct dark transverse bands (usually 5-7). Its eyes are also positioned more dorsally. Z. streber generally prefers even faster currents and deeper water.

Wichtige Unterschiede: Gymnocephalus baloni has a much deeper and more compressed body compared to the elongated, cylindrical body of Zingel zingel. It also has a single, continuous dorsal fin (though deeply notched) and lacks the distinct separation seen in Zingel species. Its coloration is also different, often with irregular dark spots rather than distinct bands.
