The most reliable distinction is the number of fin rays: C. nudus has fewer dorsal (16-19) and anal (32-36) soft rays compared to C. dorab (dorsal 29-36, anal 30-36). C. nudus also lacks the small black spot at the base of the pectoral fin often present in C. dorab.
